Range of green and blue laser diodes offer improved beam quality

30-01-2024 | Rutronik | Semiconductors

Rutronik has expanded its opto product portfolio with green and blue laser diodes in Metal Can TO38 and Metal Can TO56 packages from AM OSRAM. They impress with the improved beam quality and tighter electro-optical tolerances. The laser diodes are obtainable with power levels from 10mW to 100mW. The diodes, like the PLT3 520FB and the PLT5 450GB, are now available.

The flexibility of two housing options and the different optical power levels (10mW, 20mW, 30mW, 50mW and 100mW) provide developers with the best option for the planned application. While the TO38 housings are especially suited for limited space, the TO56 variants are standard in industrial environments.

To ensure eye protection, the green laser diodes in the TO56 housing include an integrated photodiode that monitors and controls the optical output power.

The blue laser diode PLT5 450GB provides optical output power (CW = continuous wave) of 100mW (TC = 25C), with a typical emission wavelength of 450nm.

The green laser diode PLT3 520FB supplies optical output power (CW = continuous wave): 50mW (TC = 25C), with a typical emission wavelength of 520nm.

Typical application examples include devices and tools (e.g. barcode scanners, levelling), entertainment, functional lighting, life science applications (PLT5 450GB), outdoor and industrial lighting (e.g. machine vision), and projection (e.g. aiming, pointing).
