Compact single-phase built-in filters for wide temperature ranges

Schurter expands the FMAB NEO single-phase filter family with new variants for protection class II and high-performance applications. The filters offer cost-effective, compact designs and high performance in a wide temperature range (-40C to +100C). Equipped with a fully enclosed steel housing, the new protection class II filter series does not need a protective conductor connection thanks to its reinforced insulation and exceptional symmetrical attenuation. For example, this version is ideal for power tools and medical applications. The M5 version, for a rated current range of 1A to 20A with plug-in connections, is a special variant available. The high-performance versions also have an all-around closed steel housing and have very high symmetrical attenuation and, due to the use of new, high-quality core materials, extremely high asymmetrical damping in a compact design. These features ensure they are suitable for usage in demanding laboratory and medical equipment applications. The filter variants of ranges are available now from Rutronik.

In addition to the basic insulation, the protection class II variants have reinforced insulation on the inside, doubled distances between all clearances and creepage gaps, and large plastic collars on the 6.3mm x 0.8mm plug-in connections.

The high-performance filter variants have highly permeable toroidal cores and are ENEC and cURus-approved. They are also obtainable in a version with an earth choke and are particularly suited for universal industrial applications and applications with high symmetrical interference caused by switching semiconductors. The rated current is 1A to 30A at a maximum of 250VAC. Due to the same design dimensions compared to the standard filters, high-performance versions can easily be implemented if the EMC measurement level makes it essential.

Application examples include medical devices following IEC/UL 60601-1 (1 MOOP, 1 MOPP) (protection class II: 2 MOOP, 2 MOPP) and home care; industrial applications; energy applications; battery storage; and audio/video, information, and communication applications by with IEC/UL 62368-1.
