Smart power supplies with EtherCAT interface

PULS offers an innovation in DIN-Rail power supplies and Field Power Supplies equipped with a fully integrated EtherCAT interface.

Integrating the EtherCAT interface enables users to configure and remotely control the power supplies in an efficient and time-saving manner. Also, it supplies access to various measurement data, enabling reliable monitoring and predictive maintenance of the power supply and the end system.

The power supplies with integrated EtherCAT ports can be directly connected to EtherCAT controllers – without additional gateways, supplying easy and rapid access to all application data and power supply functions. The real-time capabilities and high-speed transmission of EtherCAT are ideal for maintenance, logging and remote control in large-scale systems.

The power supply data can also be employed within real-time control loops. Based on the data, drives or other high-energy users can be controlled optimally to keep the dynamic power requirements within the capabilities of the power supply system. This improves system efficiency as power supplies can be used at the optimal operating point.

Three models will be available – 240W or 480W DIN rail power supplies with EtherCAT with input of AC 100-240V, DC 110-150V, output: 24V, 10A or 20A; 48V, 10A, 2 x RJ45 EtherCAT ports, and rated to IP20. The third model is the 600W FIEPOS Field Power Supply with EtherCAT, with input AC 380V-480V, output of 24V, 25A and four eFused outputs, M8 A-Coded, and is rated to IP65/67.

The company provides all the documentation and tools needed to integrate their smart power supplies with EtherCAT into customer’s automation networks, allowing direct access to the device data from the PLC or embedded controller.

This includes extensive documentation – from datasheets, data and interface descriptions to quick start guides, allowing a fast and easy integration even for users with little experience. Also, the company offers relevant electronic data files such as IODD for IO Link or ESI files for EtherCAT. As part of its quick start guides, it also supplies sample configurations and programs for selected PLCs and control tools.
