Mouser now stocks the Type 2AB UWB+BLE combo UWB module from Murata Electronics, featuring both ultra-wideband (channels 5 and 9) and BLE 5.2 RF technology. Supplying low current consumption and a small form factor, the combo module supports various small, battery-operated applications, including IoT devices, connected tracking devices, industrial sensors and controllers, and condition monitoring solutions.

The module delivers an excellent battery life of more than ten years in an ultra-small, 10.5mm × 83mm × 1.44mm package. The module provides an embedded reference clock and an integrated three-axis sensor, while sophisticated collaborative coexistence hardware mechanisms and algorithms ensure that WLAN and Bluetooth collaboration is optimised for maximum performance. The high-performance module is based on the NXP 88W9098 combo chipset, supporting Wi-Fi 6 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.3 BR/EDR/LE 2MPHY up to a 1200Mbps PHY data rate on Wi-Fi and a 3Mbps PHY data rate on Bluetooth. The module's WLAN section supports the PCIe 2.0 interface with optional support for SDIO 3.0, while the Bluetooth section supports the high-speed four-wire UART interface and PCM for audio data.

The module's low-power performance and small form factor make it an excellent option for size- and power-sensitive applications, including handheld wireless systems, gateways, and video streaming solutions.

The module is supported by the LBUA5QJ2AB-828EVB evaluation kit. The kit provides a complete test and development platform on a 47mm × 80mm PCB, with a pre-mounted Type 2AB module, onboard UWB and BLE antennas and all needed support circuitry. USB Type-C connectors allow easy connection to power and a PC.
