Automotive grade standard rectifiers provide efficient use of PCB space

26-07-2023 | Rutronik | Power

Available now from Rutronik are Vishay Intertechnology's SE20Nx, SE30Nx and SE40Nx automotive grade standard rectifiers offering peak reverse voltages of 200V, 400V and 600V, respectively, delivering high currents up to 4A. They are currently the first in the industry to be included in the DFN3820A series of power DFN packages with less than 1cm dimensions and wettable flanks. The space-saving design of the enclosures permits more efficient use of the boards with exceptional current-carrying capacity. The rectifiers are ideal for various applications in connectivity, industrial or consumer areas.

The three new types of standard surface mount rectifiers are suited to automotive applications. The SE20Nx (2A), SE30Nx (3A) and SE40Nx (4A) provide space-saving solutions with high efficiency and operate reliably at operating temperatures of -55C and +175C.

The DFN3820A package offers extremely small dimensions and a particularly low profile, with a compact 3.8mm x 2mm and a height of only 0.88mm.

Compared to components in the SMP package (DO-220AA) with the same footprint, the devices provide a 12% lower profile while delivering twice the current-carrying capacity. This excellent thermal performance is due to the optimised copper mass design and advanced die placement technology of the components, allowing operation at higher current ratings. Optimum power line polarity and rail-to-rail protection are achievable in commercial, industrial and automotive applications.

Typical application areas include connectivity for telecom mobile and fixed network infrastructure, telecom mobile devices; for consumers, it includes consumer electronics, household appliances, health and care; mobility comprises automotive, agricultural equipment, and micro-mobility; and suitable for industry in automation, home and building control, and drives.
