Low contact resistance relays for EV chargers and PV-powered homes

26-06-2023 | Omron | Power

Omron Electronic Components Europe has extended its high-power switching capability by adding a low-contact resistance model for the successful two-pole contact type G7L-2A-X series relays. With a 6mm contact gap, the new G7L-2A-X-SI relay delivers low contact resistance of a maximum 10mOhm and a rated load of 30A at 600VDC or 25A at 1000VDC.

The G7L-X series conforms to UK and IEC solar inverter standards and applicable UL and VDE electrical standards.

The design features include an assisting magnetism circuit to help attain a very quick switchover. The relay contacts have been specifically developed to endure very high DC loads, a feature of this application. Contact forms are two-pole DPST, and its 6mm contact gap provides improved safety.

Driven by the trends for higher capacity and growing heat generation issues, the series allows reduced charging time for vehicle charging and delivers high capacity for residential energy storage systems and battery storage management.

Compared with similar-level competitive relays, the G7L- 2A-X-SI has a larger contact gap, low contact resistance, and bidirectional switching ability.

Capable of 6,000 operations at 600VDC, or 100 operations at 1000VDC, the relays supply higher capacity and low heat generation. The device is compact for a relay with this capacity: it measures only 52.5mm x 35.5mm x 41mm.
