Standard rectifiers deliver high current ratings

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc has released three new series of automotive grade surface-mount standard rectifiers, the industry's first devices in a low profile DFN3820A package with wettable flanks. Offering space-saving, high-efficiency solutions for power line polarity protection and rail-to-rail protection in automotive, commercial, and industrial applications, the 2A SE20Nx, 3A SE30Nx, and 4A SE40Nx are each available with reverse voltages of 200V, 400V, and 600V.

The first package in its new Power DFN family, the device provides a compact 3.8mm x 2mm footprint and an incredibly low typical height of 0.88mm, enabling the rectifiers to make more efficient usage of PCB space. At the same time, the devices' optimised copper mass design and advanced die placement technology provide exceptional thermal performance that allows operation at higher current ratings.

Compared to devices in the SMP (DO-220AA) package of same size, the AEC-Q101-qualified devices deliver a 12% lower profile and double the current rating. Also, the rectifiers provide equivalent or higher current ratings to larger devices in the traditional SMB (DO-214AA) and SMC (DO-214AB) packages, and the eSMP series SlimSMA (DO-221AC), SlimSMAW (DO-221AD), SMPA (DO-2212BC), and SMPC (TO-2778A).

The rectifiers offer an oxide planar chip junction design with a typical reverse leakage current lower than 0.1μA. At the same time, their low forward voltage drops down to 0.86V, decreasing power losses to enhance efficiency. The devices function over a wide temperature range from -55C to +175C and supply ESD capability in compliance with IEC 61000-4-2, air discharge mode. Excellent for automated placement, the rectifiers provide an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1, per J-STD-020, LF maximum peak of 260C. The devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
