Mouser now stocks the FT4232HA high-speed USB-to-UART/MPSSE IC from FTDI Chip. The device is an automotive-qualified USB 2.0-to-UART converter that seamlessly supplies high-speed USB support to target designs. Providing four independent configurable interfaces, it delivers a highly flexible solution for various automotive and general USB applications, including smart card readers, media player interfaces, industrial control, and set-top box interfaces.

The USB-to-UART/MPSSE IC supports single-chip USB-to-quad serial ports with various configurations. Two of the device’s four configurable interfaces may be configured as UART, JTAG, SPI, I²C, or Bit-Bang mode, utilising an MPSSE with independent baud rate generators, while the remaining two interfaces configured as UART or Bit-Bang.

Ideal for various automotive applications, the highly durable device is AEC Grade 2 qualified with an extended operating temperature range of -40C to +105C. The IC also offers low operating and USB suspend currents and supports bus-powered, self-powered, and high-power bus-powered USB configurations.

For development, the company also supplies the FT4232HA Mini Module, a small evaluation board that offers a pre-installed FT4232HA and an onboard USB port that enables a simple connection to a PC. The evaluation module also incorporates two 26-pin dual-row headers to connect PCB header sockets and ribbon cables easily.
