Pick-and-place-friendly lead bending option for wirewound resistors

18-10-2022 | Vishay | Power

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc now provides certain devices in its AC and AC-AT series of cemented, axial-leaded wirewound resistors with a pick-and-place friendly lead bending option, the WSZ lead form, that enables the devices to be employed as surface-mount components. Providing high power dissipation and outstanding pulse capability, the Vishay Draloric resistors are the industry's first devices to be supplied in a non-inductive version.

Resistors with the WSZ lead form may be assembled on the PCB beside other surface-mount components to enhance the pick-and-place process and reduce costs. The devices will serve as snubber, load, and inrush current limiting resistors for pre-charge/discharge applications in automotive and industrial electronics, energy meters, and white goods power supplies.

The devices provide a robust, non-flammable silicone cement coating for difficult operating conditions that conforms to UL 94 V-0. The resistors function over a wide temperature range of -55C to +250C and provide a wirewound construction that satisfies the highest demands against mechanical resistance, dielectric strength, thermal shocks, and insulation resistance at high temperatures.

The RoHS-compliant, halogen-free devices provide tin-plated terminations for compatibility with lead (Pb)-free and lead (Pb)-containing soldering processes.
