Waterproof pressure sensor with high chemical resistance available now

20-09-2022 | Alps Alpine | Test & Measurement

Alps Alpine has extended its pressure sensor lineup with a new waterproof pressure sensor that maintains existing water resistance performance whilst also being highly resistant to organic constituents in gases.

Wearable devices are amongst the primary applications for these pressure sensors to date, with water resistance an essential feature. Looking to branch into the gas meter market, the company's sensors must be resistant to organic constituents in gases. The new product offers high chemical resistance by redeveloping the resin sensor covering. The adhesive resin between the metal lid and ceramic substrate has also been recreated, strengthening the bond to enhance shock resistance relative to the existing model. The product's shape is unchanged from the current product, and water resistance is accomplished simply by setting it inside the housing with an O-ring.

Looking ahead, the company looks to expand into a new area, the gas meter market, while also targeting applications of existing product HSPPAD143A within the wearable devices domain.
