New incremental encoder series addresses silicon-related lead time constraints

CUI Devices’ Motion Group has introduced a new series to its AMT incremental encoder family. Founded on the existing AMT11 series package, the new AMT11A series is not subject to silicon-related lead-time constraints and can operate as a drop-in replacement for AMT11 encoder models. These encoders provide 16 quadrature resolutions from 96 to 4096 PPR, selectable through an onboard DIP switch.

Thanks to the company's proprietary capacitive ASIC technology, the series produces high durability, accuracy, and immunity to environmental factors. It provides compact radial and axial package types with a locking hub for ease of installation and low power consumption of 16mA at 5V. The series also has an operating temperature range from -40C to 125C and provides differential line driver versions.

The AMT11A-V kit provides users further flexibility throughout development and design, including nine different sleeve bore options from 2mm to 8mm, two simple mounting tools, and two baseplates with multiple pre-drilled mounting hole patterns to mate with a comprehensive range of motors. These all-in-one kit components facilitate the installation process onto a motor and greatly lower SKU count in production.
