Sensirion has added the digital automotive sensor SHT4xA to its range of humidity and temperature sensors. With integrated diagnostic capability, AEC-Q100 product qualification, optional wettable flanks and low annual drift, the device sets the highest standards for demanding applications.

The SHT4xA is based on the company's CMOSens Technology and 20 years of experience in humidity measurement. The sensor was designed particularly for automotive applications and satisfies the most demanding reliability necessities, such as accelerated lifetime tests at 85C/85%RH. Also, an integrated heater allows chip self-diagnostics throughout its operating life.

The sensor is offered in various accuracy classes and with an I2C or pulse width modulation interface. The optional wettable flanks of the DFN housing enable AOI after surface mounting of the PCB. Accuracy tolerances down to ±2%RH and ±0.2C are delivered across the full measurement range of 0%RH to 100%RH and from -40C to 125C. The operating voltage range is 2.3V to 5.5V. Optional protection options utilising an applied membrane or protective film offer splash water protection or assist processing during production.

“Sensirion has been setting the industry standard in humidity sensor technology for more than 20 years. This is based on our competences in ASIC, MEMS and package design as well as proven calibration expertise. In combination with our very broad application knowledge, the SHT4xA again realises an innovative leap from which our customers can now benefit,” says Maximilian Eichberger, director Product Management Humidity and Temperature Sensors at Sensirion.
