2” x 1” DC-DC converters offer a 4:1 input range and six-sided shielding

TDK Corporation has introduced the TDK-Lambda brand PXD40 and PXD60 series of 40W and 60W DC-DC converters. Packaged in the industry-standard 2” x 1” footprint, the units can function over a wide 4:1 input range, accepting a 9VDC to 36VDC or 18VDC to 75VDC input. Operation from 12V and 24V or 24V and 48V supply voltages decreases inventory carrying costs and enhances part availability. Six-sided shielding lowers radiated emissions and simplifies system compliance. Applications for the converters comprise industrial control, telecom/datacom, and test and measurement equipment.

These latest models are offered with single outputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24 and 48V, or ±12, ±15 and ±24V dual output voltages. Single output models can be modified using the trim function by ±10% (-10/+20% for 15V and 24V outputs). All models offer a remote on/off function (positive or negative logic) and are shielded against output-overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature conditions. No minimum loading is needed.

Measuring 2” x 1” x 0.4” (50.8mm x 25.4mm x 10.2mm), the units will function in case temperatures of -40C to +105C. Derating at high temperatures is dependent on the airflow and available heat sinking. These products can also be provided with an optional heatsink fitted.

Safety certification incorporates IEC/UL/EN62368-1 with CE and UKCA marking the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives. The series provides input to output and input to case isolation of 1,600VDC.
