Bourns, Inc. has released its automotive-grade Model SRN6045HA power inductor series. These new inductors provide semi-shielded construction to consolidate the features of non-shielded and shielded inductors and give lower magnetic field radiation than non-shielded inductors. The new products are a more cost-efficient option to fully shielded ferrite-based inductors yet enable high-temperature operation than standard semi shielded inductors. Also, the new inductor series is AEC-Q200 compliant with an operating temperature range of -55C to +125C, making the series ideal for power management and EMI filtering solutions in automotive, consumer, industrial and telecom electronics.

The newly developed magnetic silicon-based coating utilised in the new inductors allows high working temperatures. It increases the operating temperature range by 20% on the high end compared to standard company semi-shielded power inductors. The high-temperature magnetic silicon-based coating is applied to the edge of the inductor winding to produce effective magnetic shielding. Along with its high operating temperature, compact size and low losses, the series also provides high current capacity with saturation current Isat ranging from 1.2–18A and heating current Irms of 0.72–7A.

The automotive-grade series now offers inductance values of 0.55–100µH and is RoHS compliant and halogen-free.
