Ethernet PHY for building and factory automation

Mouser now stocks the Texas Instruments DP83TD510E Ethernet physical layer (PHY). Providing an extended cable reach of more than 2km, the IEEE 802.3cg 10BASE-T1L-compliant transceiver removes the requirement for extra protocols, gateways and cables for higher-bandwidth communications, enabling designers to increase the reach of their industrial communications and automation applications with no increase of cabling costs or system weight.

The PHY can transmit 10Mbps Ethernet signals up to 1.7km through a single pair of twisted wires. The lengthened cable reach of the device is 1.5km more than the 200m demand of the IEEE 802.3cg 10BASE-T1L single-pair Ethernet specification. The device incorporates integrated cable diagnostic tools with built-in loopback and self-test capabilities, easing design and debugging processes.

The PHY gives a very low-noise, coupled receiver architecture, providing extended cable reach and low power dissipation. The high-performance device allows ultra-low-power consumption of less than 38mW at 1V p2p. It provides external MDI termination to support intrinsic safety requirements, and it supports RMII back-to-back mode for applications needing cable reach beyond 2,000m.
