Torex Semiconductor Ltd has released the XDL603/XDL604 series of AEC-Q100 compliant, ultra-small step-down 'micro DC-DC' converters feature an integrated coil and control IC.

An input voltage of 3V to 18V (absolute maximum rating 20V) with a switching frequency of 2.2MHz, 0.75V standard voltage supply are built-in, and the output voltage can be fixed from 1V to 5V with external resistance. The control system can be chosen from PWM control (XDL603) or PWM/PFM automatic switching control (XDL604).

The soft-start time has been internally set to 1ms (typ), but can be optionally set to any chosen value by attaching a resistance and capacity to the EN/SS pin. The power good function makes it achievable to monitor the status of the output voltage. Sequence control can be accomplished with a combination of the soft-start time and power good function.

The coil and control IC are encapsulated in a DFN3625-11B ultra-small leadless package (2.5mm x 3.6mm x 1.55mm H), making these products one of the world’s smallest class of coil-integrated DC-DCs compliant with AEC-Q100. Moreover, the package utilises a wettable flank structure, and fillets are formed at the terminal side by this, enabling automatic visual inspections of solder joints to be made.
