XP Power has introduced the PLS1500 series of 1500W rated, 1U high, 19” rack-mount programmable DC power supplies. This latest expansion complements the 600W PLS600 range for higher power equipment in an extensive assortment of OEM, industrial, and laboratory applications. Typical applications comprise component, medical, automotive and aerospace testing, semiconductor fabrication, broadcast, and telecoms.

The series includes five units providing DC output voltages of 30V, 50V, 100V, 200V, and 400V – all with a 1500W power rating. Up to four units can be joined in parallel (master/slave mode) for higher power (6kW) and up to two in series for higher voltage (up to 800V) and power.

Digital rotary controls on the front panel offer easy adjustment of the output voltage and current. As they are velocity-sensitive, a slow turn provides fine adjustment to an accuracy of 0.1%. The inbuilt 12-bit D/A and A/D converters enable the units to also measure voltage and current with a comparable degree of accuracy. This capability saves users the extra expense and space for additional measuring instruments.

On the back of the power supply are ports that provide remote control through USB, Ethernet and analogue control inputs. The USB and Ethernet inputs are SCPI compliant, supporting LabVIEW and IVI drivers. The series is also LXI certified to satisfy the interoperability standards for LAN-based instruments.

All models within the series are certified to IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 (EN/UL/CSA) safety standards. The units are CE-marked in compliance with the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC for Class A products and comply with the Canadian ICES-001 standard.
