Polymer PTC products meet protection requirements for higher current

Bourns has announced the expansion of its line of Multifuse high-temperature rated surface mount PPTC resettable fuse products. The new Bourns Multifuse MF-FSHT model family is created to deliver effective overcurrent protection in applications with higher ambient operating temperatures while also lowering the risk of generating nuisance tripping at elevated temperatures between 85C and 125C. These abilities are especially valuable in applications that regularly encounter elevated ambient temperatures, including, but not limited to industrial equipment, outdoor security systems and computing/storage devices.

The new family is offered in a small EIA 0603 footprint, and further expands the company's leading line of high-temperature rated polymer PTCs that contain the radial leaded MF-RHT model family and the surface mount MF-SMHT, MF-USHT, MF-NSHT and MF-PSHT model families.

"Our latest MF-FSHT series of surface mount polymer PTCs allows designers to more confidently specify robust overcurrent protection into their higher temperature applications where long-life operation is a must," said Lee Bourns, product line manager for Overcurrent Protection at Bourns. "Furthermore, these new models also provide enhanced thermal derating performance at higher temperatures, thereby allowing designers to benefit from higher Ihold and Itrip current ratings at elevated temperatures while using one of the industry's smallest SMD footprints."

The new family is RoHS compliant and is produced in a Bourns IATF 16949 certified facility.
