Current sensors minimise thermal losses

Melexis MLX91220 Current Sensors, available now from Mouser, operate on a 5V voltage supply and deliver high common-mode field rejection through differential sensing. The devices sense the current flowing through the leadframe of the SOIC package, minimising the thermal losses experienced with more standard solutions.

These 0A to 50A integrated Hall effect sensors offer dual overcurrent detection on-chip with a separated output, decreasing the requirement for external comparators for overcurrent protection. The all-in-one sensors provide an excellent balance of a small footprint, high bandwidth, low impedance, and isolation. These current sensors offer high-speed sensing with a DC to 300kHz bandwidth and 2μs response time.

Typical applications include AC and DC chargers, DC-DC converters, electric drives, power supplies, solar, and demand/load control.
