Miniature aluminium capacitors deliver increased design flexibility and save board space

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of low impedance, automotive grade miniature aluminium electrolytic capacitors that blend high ripple currents up to 3.8A with high-temperature operation to +105C and very long useful life up to 10,000h at +105C.

Compared to previous-generation solutions, the Vishay BCcomponents 170 RVZ series capacitors provide lower impedance and 10% to 15% higher ripple current. This enables designers to use fewer components, improving design flexibility and saving board space. Also, the AEC-Q200 qualified devices are offered in smaller case sizes, ranging from 10mm x 12mm up to 18mm to 40mm.

Highlighting radial leads and a cylindrical aluminium case, insulated with a blue sleeve, the series offers rated voltages up to 63V, capacitance from 100µF to 6800µF, and low impedance. The capacitors are charge and discharge-proof.

As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, the RoHS-compliant devices are suited for smoothing, filtering, and buffering in switch-mode power supplies and DC-DC converters for automotive, industrial, telecommunications, medical, and consumer applications.
