Surface mount capacitors for fast switching semiconductor applications

KEMET's KC-LINK surface mount capacitors are intended to satisfy the growing requirement for fast-switching wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductors that function at higher voltages, temperatures, and frequencies. The devices are available now from TTI Europe.

These C0G/NPO (BME) capacitors are ideal for power converters, inverters, snubbers and resonators, where high efficiency is a prime concern. With remarkably low ESR and thermal resistance, the capacitors can perform at very high ripple currents with no change in capacitance versus DC voltage, and a negligible difference in capacitance versus temperature. With an operating temperature of 150C, these devices can be mounted close to fast switching semiconductors in high power density applications, which need minimal cooling. The capacitor is now offered with flexible termination technology, and also commercial-grade, automotive-grade devices are available and satisfy the demanding AEC–Q200 qualification requirements.


Typical applications include WBG, SiC and GaN systems, EV/HEV, wireless charging, photovoltaic systems, power converters, inverters, LLC resonant converters, DC link, snubber, switched tank converters, and data centres.
