Power aluminium capacitors enable higher power density and increased longevity

Vishay Intertechnology offers a new series of miniature snap-in power aluminium electrolytic capacitors that facilitate higher power density designs. The Vishay BCcomponents 193 PUR-SI series provides up to 30% higher ripple current than standard solutions in comparable case sizes while producing a longer useful life.

Handling ripple currents up to 3.27A, the devices enable designers to employ fewer components to save board space and lower costs. Their long useful life of 5,000 hours at +105C permits use in demanding applications needing more than 25 years of lifetime from capacitors in ambient temperatures up to +60C.

Provided in a cylindrical aluminium case, insulated with a blue sleeve, the devices provide rated voltages to 500V in 25 compact case sizes varying from 22mm x 25mm to 35mm x 60mm. The RoHS-compliant capacitors are also offered with three-pin keyed polarity snap-in terminals.

As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, the devices are ideal for smoothing, buffering, and DC-Link filtering in switch-mode power supplies, motor drives, solar inverters, industrial air conditioners, and welding equipment.
