Step-down converter offers a very compact solution

Monolithic Power Systems MP8770C Step-Down Converter with Forced CCM is a high-frequency, fully integrated, synchronous rectified step-down switch-mode converter with internal power MOSFETs.

This converter offers a very compact solution to deliver 8A of continuous output current with excellent load and line regulation across a wide input range. The converter provides fast load transient response, easy loop designs, very tight output regulation using COT control operation. This step-down converter provides full protection features that include OCP, SCP, UVP, and thermal shutdown.

The step-down converter employs synchronous mode operation for higher-efficiency over the output current load range and comes in a space-saving QFN-16 (3mm x 3mm) package.

Typical applications include portable devices, xDSL devices, digital set-top boxes, flat panel television and monitors, general purposes, and industrial systems.
