Medical power supply offers a tiny footprint

The FiDUS high-efficiency RHM500 produces 240W convection cooled or 500W fan-cooled power from an exceptionally small 1U high industry-standard open frame footprint of just 3" x 5". There are seven output voltages offered from 12VDC to 48VDC, they all feature continuous protection against short circuit, over-voltage and overload as standard. Other features comprise a good power signal, fan output of 12V 100mA convection 300mA forced air, an optional 5V/2A standby power rail and remote on-off control (P versions). They all provide an extensive operating temperature range from -40C to +70C and low no-load power consumption.

The device is intended for employment in medical applications including medical and cosmetic lasers, imaging systems, ultrasound systems, patient monitors, blood chemistry analysers and is suitable for integration into body floating applied part applications.

The power supply series meets the latest medical approvals; safety IEC 60601-1 (ed 3.1) and EMC immunity IEC 60601-1-2 (ed 4) and features 2x MOPP input to output isolation. All versions have low emissions, easily meeting EN55011 Level B and with a five-year warranty.

Mark Gibbons, engineering manager, comments: “Medical system designers will be able to reduce the overall size of their products or use the space they’ve saved for more functional system hardware. With its super low EMC performance, it may mean that there are little or no additional components required for EMC mitigation in the final product, simplifying designs and reducing the chances of unwanted surprises at the test house.”
