Commercial and automotive grade inductors lower costs and save space

Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its IHLE series of low profile, high current inductors providing integrated e-shields for the decrease of EMI with new commercial and automotive grade devices in the 5050 case size. The Vishay Dale IHLE-5050FH-51 and IHLE-5050FH-5A lower costs and can save board space by eradicating the necessity for separate board-level Faraday shielding.

The devices contain the electric and B field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield, giving up to -20dB of electric field reduction at 1cm (above the centre of the inductor) when the integrated shield is connected to ground. Providing high-temperature operation to +155C and coplanarity of its four terminals within ≤100µm, the inductors are optimised for energy storage in DC-DC converters up to 2MHz and give superior attenuation of noise in high current filtering applications up to the SRF of the inductor.

Applications for the IHLE-5050FH-51 includes servers and desktop PCs; low profile, high current power supplies; high current POL converters; and battery-powered devices. The AEC-Q200 qualified IHLE-5050FH-5A can be employed in automotive engine and transmission control units, noise suppression for motors, diesel injection drivers, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, heating and ventilation blowers, entertainment/navigation systems, and LED and HID lighting.

Packaged in a 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction that decreases buzz to ultra-low levels, the inductors provide high resistance to moisture, thermal shock, and mechanical shock, and handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
