Texas Instruments DS90UB947N-Q1 1080p OpenLDI to FPD-Link III Serialisers offer one-lane or two-lane high-speed serial streams over cost-effective, 50Ohm single-ended coaxial, or 100Ohm differential STP cables when utilised with the DS90UB940-Q1/DS90UB948-Q1 deserializer. The device serialises an OpenLDI input supporting video resolutions up to WUXGA and 1080p60 with 24-bit colour depth. The FPD-Link III interface supports video and audio data transmission with full-duplex control across the same differential link.

The interconnect size and weight are decreased by combining video data and control over two differential pairs, simplifying system design. EMI is reduced by the employment of low voltage differential signalling, data scrambling, and randomisation. In backward compatible mode, the device supports up to WXGA and 720p resolutions with 24-bit colour depth over a single differential link.

The device supports multi-channel audio received via an external I2S interface. Audio data received by the device is encrypted and sent over the FPD-Link III interface, where it is regenerated by the deserializer. The devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.

Typical applications for automotive infotainment include IVI head units and HMI modules, rear-seat entertainment systems, digital instrument clusters; and security and surveillance cameras.
