The KEMET OHD Thermal Guard is an SPST-NO Through Hole Reed Switch, 0.3A 110V AC/DC. The device has been developed for thermal problem countermeasures. The device is now available from RS Components. Its unique proprietary design features a magnet and a temperature-sensing soft ferromagnetic substance called Thermorite. The materials magnetic flux density decreases as the temperature increases turning it into a paramagnetic substance at the Curie temperature.

The device provides high reliability for on/off operations, high-speed response and long operational life with excellent environmental durability. The device is compatible with extremely low (0.1mW or lower) signals to high power (6W) levels. The device provides a straightforward circuit design and is compact, light and easy to handle. Dust, explosion and corrosion-proof the device offers a range of operating temperatures available in 5C increments from +30C to +130C.

Typical applications include atmospheric temperature detection and overheating, monitoring of power transistors, power modules, room heaters, hot gas heaters, PPCs, amplifiers, motors, HDDs, FDDs and other general appliances.
