New shunt resistors improve reliability and save space

ROHM Semiconductor has released its shunt resistors, GMR50 series, providing an industry-leading 4W rated power (at electrode temperature TK=90C) in the compact 5mm x 2.5mm (2010 type package) size. It is excellent for current detection in motors and power supply circuits employed in automotive systems and industrial equipment.

This new series joins a revised electrode structure with optimised device design that increases heat dissipation to PCB where the resistor is mounted. The result is a 39% smaller mounting area over conventional 4W rated products. Also, this series can sustain against overcurrent loads and achieve stable current detection accuracy even when unexpected loads exceed the rated power when applied, contributing to increased reliability in system level.
