Texas Instruments LDC1001/LDC1001-Q1 Inductance to Digital Converters are automotive-qualified, 4.75V to 5.25V devices, created for parallel resistance (Rp) and inductance (L) measurements. The devices offer inductive sensing technology that allows precise measurement of the linear or angular position of metal targets in automotive and industrial applications. Inductive sensing is a short-range, contactless sensing technology that enables high-resolution sensing of conductive targets in the proximity of dirt, dust, oil, and moisture, which can be employed by applications in harsh environments.

The system comprises an inductive sensor, typically a PCB coil, and a conductive target. The LDC1001-Q1 is offered in a 16-pin TSSOP package and the LDC1001 is provided in a 16-pin WSON package. The devices offer many modes of operation. An SPI simplifies connection to an MCU. The devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.

Typical applications include touch buttons, angular position sensing, linear position sensing, and metal proximity sensing.
