High-performance MEMS audio sensor detects acoustic waves

24-01-2020 | RS Components | Test & Measurement

The STMicroelectronics MP23ABS1 is a compact, low-power microphone constructed with a capacitive sensing element and an IC interface. The device is available from RS Components.

The sensing element, able to detect acoustic waves, is constructed using a specialised silicon micromachining process to produce audio sensors.

The device provides an acoustic overload point of 130dBSPL with a typical 64dB signal-to-noise ratio.

The sensitivity of the device is -38dBV ±1dB @ 94dBSPL, 1kHz.

The device is provided in a package compliant with reflow soldering and is guaranteed to run over an extended temperature range from -40C to +85C.

Typical applications include mobile phones, wearables, hearables, smart speakers, and active noise-cancelling headsets.
