Vishay Intertechnology has launched a new IHDF edge-wound, through-hole inductor providing rated current up to 72A and saturation currents of up to 230A for defence and industrial applications. Highlighting ferrite core technology and a low 15.4mm maximum profile, the Vishay Dale IHDF-1300AE-10 operates over an exacting temperature range from -55C to +125C with low AC and DC power losses and outstanding heat dissipation.

The edge-wound coil of the device gives low DCR of 1.1mOhm maximum, which minimises losses and improves rated current performance for enhanced efficiency. In comparison to competing ferrite-based solutions, the device claims to provide 75% higher saturation current. The device's low profile package enables designers to satisfy harsh mechanical shock and vibration demands while reducing board height to save space.

With an operating voltage up to 500VDC, the device is perfect for DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor and switching noise suppression, and for high power switchmode power supplies in high-temperature, high current applications, incorporating industrial solar systems and charging stations for EVs, plus defence systems.

The company will customise the device's mounting orientation, nominal inductance, termination type, and isolation voltage rating on request. To lessen the risk of whisker growth, the inductor provides a hot-dipped tin plating. The device is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
