Battery charge management IC for wearable and small medical devices

18-12-2019 | Texas Instruments | Semiconductors

Texas Instruments bq21061 Battery Charge Management IC incorporates the most common functions for portable, wearable, and small medical devices, specifically a charger, a regulated output voltage rail for system power, an LDO, and push-button controller.

The IC combines a linear charger with PowerPath that enables a quick and accurate charge for small batteries while giving a regulated voltage to the system. The regulated system voltage (PMID) output can be configured through I2C based on the recommended operating condition of downstream ICs and system loads for optimal system operation.

Typical applications include headsets, earbuds, and hearing aids; smart watches and smart trackers; wearable fitness and activity monitors; and blood glucose monitors.
