RS Components now offers the new series of DIN rail-mount redundancy power modules from TDK-Lambda.

Created for automation and general-purpose industrial applications, the DRM40 and DRM40B power modules provide 20 to 40A current handling capability and can be employed in N+1 redundancy systems and applications; alternatively, two supplies can be installed in parallel for extra power.

A principal feature of the higher-end DRM40 unit is a current-balancing LED indicator, which switches on when two power supplies have been adjusted to give the same current, thereby making it simpler to assure load sharing. Also, two isolated alarm signals show the output voltage status of each power supply, making it easy to facilitate remote fault monitoring. However, a lower cost unit – the DRM40B – is also offered for applications not needing these advanced features.

Produced to take up less space on the DIN rail, the DRM40 series is provided in a highly compact unit with dimensions of only 35mm x 125mm x 124mm. Providing an operating temperature range of –40C to +70C, key electrical characteristics include: an internal voltage drop of only 200mV at 40A, allowing low power loss; a wide input voltage range of 10V to 30V; and maximum input current of 20A on each of the unit’s two inputs, plus a peak input capability of 2 x 30A for 4s.
