Schurter MCS16 Metal Line Pushbutton Switches, available now from Mouser, provide a simple design in an extremely durable structure that is excellent for applications needing a smaller diameter momentary switch. A metal housing and actuator encapsulate a base switch with totally sealed contacts and metal snap dome rated IP67. Mounting to the chassis is also rated IP67 with an O-ring fastened by a hex nut. The slightly recessed actuator protects against accidental actuation, while also highlighting an anti-jam short travel of 0.4mm with a maximum force of 5N. The lifetime rating is one million operations. Other features comprise a switching current of 125mA maximum, a 4VDC switching voltage (48VDC maximum), and an impact resistance rating of IK06.

The housing of the switch is constructed of zinc-die-cast. Actuators are zinc-die-cast or stainless-steel as well. The stainless-steel actuator provides for laser marking, incorporating a multitude of standard options, or customer specified graphics. Actuators are offered with red or green integrated point illumination with other colours provided on request. Terminal options incorporate pins for PCB mounting, pins with a soldering aid, or a terminal block for screw connections.

The series is an option for cost-sensitive applications, varying from point-of-sale terminals, vending machines, emergency call boxes, ticketing dispensing, as well as security controls, industrial control panels, medical and audio equipment.
