Mouser now offers the S32K ISELED-enabled microcontrollers from NXP Semiconductors. Part of the company’s family of S32K automotive-qualified microcontrollers, the devices provide the same feature set but add the ISELED communication protocol.

The ISELED protocol circumvents expensive external processes and provides well-balanced light parameters with tighter calibration and more comprehensive processing control for RGB LEDs. The microcontrollers offer the 32-bit Arm Cortex-based processing power and access to this ISELED ecosystem to provide a total hardware and software solution that allows engineers to produce the dynamic sequences and light parameters necessitated by next-generation smart LED lighting applications.

The devices are automotive-qualified microcontrollers with either an Arm Cortex-M0+ core (S32K11x families) or an Arm Cortex-M4F core (S32K14x families) that comprise a production license and a dedicated driver to drive the ISELED serial communication protocol. The software driver operates within the production-grade SDK incorporated in the S32 Design Studio IDE or the AUTOSAR environment. Each microcontroller can work as a single external master controller within the ISELED ecosystem due to its strong feature set and excellent performance processing abilities.

For low-cost evaluation and development, the NXP S32K EVB evaluation boards are also offered, including the S32K144EVB. Based on the S32K144 microcontroller, the device provides a standard-based form factor compatible with the Arduino Uno pin layout, offering a wide range of expansion board options for fast application prototyping and demonstration.
