RS Components is shipping a new easy-to-use and inexpensive development kit that will allow engineers to evaluate the high-performance Excelon Ultra QSPI F-RAM memory technology from Cypress Semiconductor.

The company’s advanced F-RAM technology is ideal for employing in a mixture of industrial applications including industrial automation, data logging, programmable logic controllers, motor control, test and measurement, point-of-sale, and smart meters.

The main board of the CY15FRAMKIT-002 development kit combines a 4Mbit (512Kx8) Excelon-Ultra Quad-SPI F-RAM. Providing an operating voltage range from 1.8V to 3.6V, the board maintains efficient low pin-count, high-speed interfaces. The board has Morpho headers for SPI- and QSPI-mode operation, which also allows evaluation employing the ST NUCLEO-L433RC-P microcontroller evaluation board. Also, the board operates with any Arduino UNO R3 compatible boards for SPI mode operation.

Further features of the board include an –40C to +85C industrial-grade operating range; hardware protection with a write-protect pin; software block protection; and embedded ECC.
