ProTek Devices has launched a new circuit protection diode to shield CAN Bus and other automotive subsystem designs from ESD and other electrical fast transient damage. The ESD protection level is rated at >25kilovolts.

The PESD2402 is intended to protect two signal data lines from impairment arising from ESD and other transients. The diode runs at 24V with a low capacitance rating per line. It satisfies or exceeds IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV and 61000-4-4 (EFT). It also offers 100W peak pulse power per line, per IEC 61000-4-5, providing a low clamping voltage and low leakage current. Also, the new diode is RoHS and REACH compliant.

The new diode is available in a moulded JEDEC SOT-23 package weighing approximately 8mg. Other principal mechanical characteristics incorporate lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature (pure-tin - Sn, 100) of 260C-270C. The new steering diode/TVS array series also has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.
