Renesas ISL8210M 10A High-Efficiency Step-Down Power Modules with Analog Interface highlights the proprietary Renesas R4 Technology. The device supports a broad 4.5V to 16.5V input voltage range and a broad 0.5V to the 5V output range. The device can deliver up to 10A of continuous current and is optimised for high power density.

The device combines all power and most passive components, needing only a few external components to work. Integrated LDOs give module bias voltage, providing for single supply operation. Optional external resistors allow flexible configuration options such as frequency, VOUT, and AV gain. The remote voltage sensing feature entirely removes any potential difference between remote and local grounds, following in improved regulation and protection accuracy.

The programmable soft-start decreases the inrush current from the input supply. Furthermore, the precision enabled input, and PGOOD flag coordinate the start-up of the device with other voltage rails. Full power operation is allowed without heatsinks via superior efficiency and low thermal resistance. Safe operations under abnormal operating conditions are assured with Input UVLO, over-temperature, overcurrent, output overvoltage, and output prebias start-up.

The device is offered in a compact thermally-enhanced 12mm x 11mm x 5.3mm HDA package.
