Magna-Power Electronics has upgraded to its 1U (1.75” height) SL Series, now providing up to 95% efficiency and carrying an NRTL safety listing. With 99 different models, the series combines the latest power semiconductor technology with the company’s signature robust current-fed power processing topology to provide unmatched 1U programmable power levels up to 8kW. With its advanced microprocessor control and feature set, the series offers the performance and functionality demanded to meet cutting-edge applications, including automotive component testing, aerospace test and measurement, particle acceleration, industrial and renewable energy, semiconductor fabrication and component test, as well as general laboratory research and development.

The upgraded series now offers one of the highest efficiency in its class, with up to 95% efficient over an extensive range of models, giving significant energy savings for ATE product validation and burn-in, as well as decreased enclosure cooling demands. With its meticulously planned internal cooling layout, air flows only across heatsinks via side air intakes with rear exhaust, not over sensitive electronics. This layout, along with the series efficiency gains, has enabled the product line to be extended to higher power levels than is conventionally provided in a 1U package, while still preserving its continuous full power operation at 50C maximum ambient operating temperature.

“The SL Series is proof that power density is king for rack-mount programmable power supplies,” said Adam Pitel, chief executive officer of Magna-Power Electronics. He continued “the SL Series efficiency gains and NRTL listing directly support Magna-Power’s strong OEM customer-base, providing significant savings in energy costs and regulatory approvals for our customer’s products.”
