The Texas Instruments TMP23x devices are a group of precision CMOS integrated-circuit linear analog temperature sensors with an output voltage proportional to temperature that engineers can utilise in multiple analog temperature-sensing applications. These temperature sensors are more accurate than comparable pin-compatible devices on the market, highlighting typical accuracy from 0C to +70C of ±0.5C and ±1C. The enhanced accuracy of the series is created for many analog temperature-sensing applications. The device provides a positive slope output of 10mV/C over the full –40C to +150C temperature range and a supply range from 2.3V to 5.5V. The higher gain TMP236 sensor offers a positive slope output of 19.5mV/C from –10C to +125C and a supply range from 3.1V to 5.5V.
The 9µA typical quiescent current and 800µs typical power-on time allow effective power-cycling architectures to minimise power consumption for battery-powered devices. A class-AB output driver provides a strong 500µA maximum output to power capacitive loads up to 1000pF and is intended to directly interface to the ADC sample and hold inputs. With excellent accuracy and a strong linear output driver, the device's analog output temperature sensors are cost-effective alternatives to passive thermistors.
