Texas Instruments has introduced a 5.5V step-down power module that produces true, continuous 6A output current with up to 95% efficiency. The easy-to-use TPSM82480 DC-DC module combines power MOSFETs and shielded inductors into a small, low-profile footprint for space and height-constrained applications such as networking, point-of-load telecommunications, and test and measurement power supplies.
The company’s highly integrated device sustains the required 6A output current over the full temperature range without additional airflow. This is achieved using a two-phase control topology that distributes the load between the phases to assure high efficiency and balanced operation. Extra features include adjustable soft start, VSEL to support multiple processor stages and a power-good indicator.
