Thunderboard Sense 2 IoT Development Starter Kit (SLTB004A), available now from Mouser, is multi-sensor, multi-protocol cloud inspiration kit. This compact, feature rich, cost-effective, prototype and development platform is based on the EFR32 Mighty Gecko Wireless SoC. The kit is a perfect platform for developing energy-friendly connected IoT devices. It is a true multi-protocol capable kit, which supports proprietary stacks and standard protocols including as Thread, Zigbee, and BLE. Programming the kit is simply done using a USB Micro-B cable and the on-board J-Link debugger. A USB virtual COM port offers a serial connection to the target application. The board includes an 8Mbit serial flash used for OTA firmware upgrades, or as general purpose, non-volatile memory. The kit is supported in Simplicity Studio, and a BSP is offered to give application developers a quick start. Connecting external hardware to the kit can easily be done using the 20 breakout pads, which present peripherals from the EFR32MG12 Mighty Gecko such as I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIOs. These breakout pads follow the same pinout as the Expansion Headers (EXP) on other Silicon Labs Starter Kits.
