Compact LEDs designed to deliver high power density in a small footprint

Lumileds Luxeon IR LEDs, available now from Mouser, are offered in a wide selection of package sizes, optical features, wavelengths, and beam angles to address the vast array of rapidly growing IR applications. These uses range from facial recognition, iris, and gesture scanning, to wearable health monitors, machine vision, night vision cameras, and other industrial and biotech applications. This family combines high radiant intensity imaging with low thermal resistance, resulting in optimal solutions for compact system designs. These LEDs are built on two platforms: Luxeon IR Compact LEDs (1.37mm x 1.90mm) for radiant power density up to 1115mW at 940nm, and up to 400mW/mm2. Luxeon IR Domed LEDs (3.7mm x 3.7mm) in 850nm or 940nm and offers 60-degree, 90-degree, or 150-degree beam angles and radiant power up to 1400mW at 940nm. The LEDs are rated as Risk Free for eye safety according to the IEC Photobiological Test (IEC/EN 62471 standard). Initial L70 reliability testing of the family indicated lumen maintenance of over 30,000 hours.
