Efficient, high power density brushless motor drive reference design

19-06-2017 | Texas Instruments | Power

The TIDA-00774 from Texas Instruments is a 1kW drive for a three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor in power tools operating from a five-cell Li-ion battery with a voltage up to 21V. The design is a 65mm x 60mm compact drive, implementing sensor-based trapezoidal control. This new reference design demonstrates a low BOM cost method to achieve optimal efficiency and EMI performance for power tools, vacuums, E-bikes and other space constrained motor designs.
