Watertight connectors provide IP68 sealing and ruggedized performance

Now available from Astute, the new LEMO T Series connector features an innovative design and is rated to IP68 to provide reliable performance in environments requiring ruggedized equipment and a watertight connection, including defence systems, security systems, test and measurement, medical and many others. Based on the LEMO B Series, the T Series connector uses the same original LEMO Push-Pull technology, and now includes a special construction with an inner sleeve and extra sealing to enable IP68 water protection when mated. The T Series is available in 2- to 16 contact configurations and available with solder, PCB or crimp contacts. A further benefit of the T Series is a keying system to ensure correct connector alignment with multiple key options to avoid cross-mating of multiple connections. The connector outer shell offers full 360 degree EMC shielding, says the company. Commenting, Gary Evans, e-mech divisional manager, Astute, said: "The LEMO T Series offers customers the same proven high performance contact system and configurations from the well-regarded and popular LEMO B Series range, with a very wide selection of options that can be made available quickly. A further advantage of the T Series is its backward compatibility with the B Series. It has the same socket panel-hole diameter as the B Series, which will be a considerable benefit to customers wanting to upgrade their existing designs as there is no need to change front panel dimensions, and upgraded cable plug assemblies will work with existing designs." The connector outer shell is available in standard LEMO matt chrome finish or black chrome finish, making it ideal for defence systems such as aircraft communications, land vehicles, night-vision equipment, simulation or personal field equipment, as well as in the test and measurement and other industries wherever the environmental conditions require ruggedised equipment.
