Stocked by Mouser, On Semiconductor NCP1602 6-pin enhanced, light-load efficiency power factor corrected controller optimises PFC boost stage efficiency across a load range. The controller is designed using the innovative Valley synchronised frequency foldback method. The VSFF method maximises efficiency for nominal and light loads. Using the VSFF method, the circuit operates in Critical conduction Mode (CrM) if the control voltage exceeds a programmable value. This method reduces the stand-by losses. Similar to FCCrM controllers, the device’s internal circuitry enables near-unity power factor even when the switching frequency is reduced.
The power factor controller is ideally suited for applications in which reliability, low stand-by power, and high efficiency are key considerations.
