Low-loss SPDT RF switch offers constant impedance during switching

Mouser is now stocking the F2923 absorptive radio frequency (RF) switch from Integrated Device Technology (IDT). The F2923 is the first single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) RF switch to feature IDT’s KZ constant impedance technology, which maintains desired impedance of terminals during switching. The switch features low insertion loss and is designed for RF applications, including base stations, test and measurement, wireless backhaul, public safety infrastructure, and portable handheld devices. The IDT F2923 RF switch, available from Mouser Electronics, covers a broad 300kHz – 8,000MHz frequency range. In addition to low insertion loss (0.48dB at 2GHz), the switch provides industry-leading isolation of 74dB at 2GHz and excellent linearity. The KZ technology ensures the switch delivers near-constant impedance when switching from one RF port to another without compromising isolation, linearity, or insertion loss. For example, standard switches can create a large voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 9-to-1; the F2923 switch maintains a VSWR of less than 1.4to1, which helps protect against damage to sensitive downstream devices during switching. The KZ technology also allows for dynamic or 'hot' switching, minimizing local oscillator pulling in time division duplex (TDD) systems, and reducing phase and amplitude variations in distribution networks. The IDT F2923 RF switch is available in a 4mm × 4mm, 20-pin TQFN package. The switch uses a single positive supply voltage of 3.3VDC and supports standard 1.8V and 3.3V control logic levels.
