Superior cooling management delivers ultra-efficient AC/DC power supplies

Luso Electronics now supplies EFORE’s ROAL branded DDP400 mid-range ultra-efficient AC-DC power supplies. With typical efficiencies of 94% and efficiency load profiles that exceed 80 PLUS Platinum requirements, the DDP400 series of switching supplies are the most efficient power supplies in their class, says the company. The open-frame, u-chassis and punched cover versions of the DDP400 are suitable for challenging system designs where a low profile is desired and a low power dissipation is necessary because of limited air movement. The power supplies are ideal for cabinet level controllers, mechatronic components and other industrial process control and IT systems. Rated at 250W with convection cooling and 400W with forced air cooling, the integral 12V fan output provided by the open-frame, U-chassis and punched cover versions eliminates the need for an additional fan supply. The power supply can be disabled with a logic signal and dissipates less than 0.5W in standby mode allowing system level Energy Star compliance. The DDP400 series is also available in front and top fan versions equipped with a high performance fan speed control that monitors operating conditions and applies the absolute minimum required airflow. This includes a fan off condition under light load operation (< 50W). This optimises audible noise for fan-cooled products to the lowest levels possible and maximises fan lifetime, an ideal combination for audio and process control systems where power supplies are sized for short-duration peak demand cycles, says the company.
