Foremost Electronics is now stocking the new 696 Series HEC (harsh-environment connector) which has been specifically developed for outdoor applications. High grade materials as well as innovative construction features ensure reliable performance in harsh and demanding environmental conditions.

The 696 HEC connector design has UL and VDE approval and exceptional resistance to UV, temperature fluctuations, acid rain, salt spray, ozone and other pollutants. Primary pplications include but are not limited to, agricultural and construction equipment, traffic and signalling equipment, process engineering, water purification and recycling equipment.

The three-point bayonet locking design makes for a safe and secure fast-locking action, while a robust coding mechanism prevents incorrect orientation and is suitable for over 1000 mating cycles. The connector uses a variety of crimp contacts to achieve a secure vibration proof termination. Male and female cable connectors and matching panel mount connectors are available.

The initial contact arrangement is an eight pole hybrid with four signal contacts and 3 + PE which can accommodate a variety of wire gauges from 6mm to 17mm in diameter. Signal contacts are rated up to 3A at 60V and power contacts to 25A at 400V.

Key features include IP68 and IP69K waterproof, dustproof and withstands high pressure washing, three point ΒΌ turn bayonet locking for safe, secure and fast locking, crimp termination which is resistant to vibration, 1000+ mating cycles suitable for frequent connection, tough and robust polyamide construction, excellent environmental resistance to UV exposure, temperature fluctuations, acid rain, salt spray, ozone and pollutants making the connector suitable for harsh outdoor environments, says the company.
