Waterproof mixed power and signal Combo-D connectors

Astute Electronics is now stocking a new waterproof version of Positronic's Combo-D mixed power / signal connector family. The WCBD Series connectors maintain a rating of IP67 making them ideally-suited to non-sheltered and outdoor applications, says the company. Combo-D connectors allow the user to mix power and signal in a single connector body capable of up to 40 amps per size 8 contact. The new WCBD styles feature a flexible, thermal-resistant adhesive seal and mounting accessories and hardware that prevent water and dust ingress into the enclosure. The materials used - a composite mounting plate, optional stainless steel shell and heavy gold plating - have been chosen to offer long-term corrosion resistance. Commenting, Gary Evans, e-mech divisional manager, Astute Electronics, said: "the industry appetite for waterproof and ingress protection features is increasing as electronics continues to pervade all markets. With its WCBD series connectors, Positronic is enabling designers of equipment for use outdoors to benefit from the flexibility, miniaturization and cost saving afforded by its Combo-D product range." WCBD series connectors are available with vertical and right-angle solder PCB terminations in two tail diameters, and optionally with flying leads. Closed entry PosiBand female contacts for ruggedized applications can also be fitted.
